Hussein Farhan, 27, has been charged with one count each of sexual assault, sexual interference, intimidation, and two counts of breach of a probation order
Calgary police have charged a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault involving a young girl in the city’s southeast on Tuesday.
Police say a 14-year-old girl was approached by a man she didn’t know while walking to school near the 4800 block of 14th Avenue S.E. around 8:20 a.m.
The man was talking with the girl when police believe he moved toward her and touched her inappropriately.
The girl tried to walk away from the man but he continued to follow her, police say. When she approached the school, the man walked in a different direction. She immediately reported the assault to school authorities, who contacted police.
The school resource officer assigned to the school was nearby and, along with patrol officers, located and arrested the suspect, a press release reads.
“We commend the victim for her quick thinking during this alarming situation,” said Staff Sgt. Travis Baker of the Calgary police general investigation unit. “The details she provided to police aided in the suspect’s swift apprehension.”
Hussein Farhan, 27, has been charged with one count each of sexual assault, sexual interference, intimidation, and two counts of breach of a probation order.
