Tuchel confirms Rudiger set to leave Chelsea

Chelsea are yet to succeed in finding new owners for the club following Roman Abramovich’s sanctioning in March, but the takeover saga could finally be set to come to an end this week, with the preferred bidder set to be chosen.

The news would come as a huge relief to Thomas Tuchel and his players, who have been operating as usual under all the outside interference, while the club can begin allowing spectators who aren’t season ticket holders back into the stadium.

However, Abramovich is set to demand an extra £500m from the preferred bidder, as he remains set on receiving the total amount of money that he values the club at in order to donate to Ukraine victims.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Chelsea headlines.

Chelsea takeover saga set to end this week

Chelsea may be starting to see light at the end of the tunnel as a preferred bidder could be named by the end of the week.

According to the New York Times, Raine Group are poised to name its preferred bidder ‘as soon as this week’ and will choose one of three groups backed by American investors, with each putting forward a multi-billion-dollar offer.

Even if Raine Group come to a decision, it will have to receive the British government’s blessing in order for the takeover to go through. Abramovich has previously stated that any money would be given to “all victims of the war in Ukraine,” but his plans remain vague.

Roman Abramovich ‘demands extra £500m’ from club bidders

Current Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly added £500m to the club’s price tag as a number of parties attempt to seal a takeover. The west London club has been on the market for nearly three months since the Russian announced his decision to end his near two-decade association.

The reason for that is that he apparently wants to dedicate more funds to the charitable foundation that he is expected to set up dedicated to helping victims of the conflict in Ukraine. Abramovich confirmed his intentions alongside his decision to sell.

He wrote: “I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek urged to ‘discover his monster side’

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been told he must “discover the monster and unleash him” by Thomas Tuchel if he wants to become a Chelsea regular, after enjoying a recent run of games in the side.

Tuchel is not short of midfielders to call upon with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic all available to him. Loftus-Cheek has had to be patient under Tuchel but did score in the FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace at Wembley recently.

However, the German has issued a clear challenge to the 26-year-old, after critiquing some of his recent displays. “He needs to push himself to the limit; he needs to be physical,” said the Chelsea boss.
