Manchester United could step up their plans for their summer overhaul with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel now a target to become manager and Marcus Rashford heavily linked with an exit
Manchester United’s summer overhaul appears to be gathering pace amid reports Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is ‘open’ to taking charge at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have placed Ralf Rangnick in interim charge of the club following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure in November as they search for their next permanent boss. And United are believed to be keen to take advantage of the turmoil at Chelsea to try and prise Tuchel away from their Premier League rivals.
It comes as Cristiano Ronaldo faces a decision over his future at the club, and the terms he may have to accept in order to stay. And Marcus Rashford has been linked with a sensational summer transfer to Barcelona.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Manchester United headlines.
Marcus Rashford has been linked with a sensational summer move to Barcelona with his Manchester United career in question.
The forward has fallen down the pecking order this season and missed out on a call-up to the England national team for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast amid his struggle for form. That has led to the striker being linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with reports now suggesting Barcelona are very keen on signing him.
And it is claimed that the ‘phone hasn’t stopped ringing’ for Rashford as Barcelona hope to persuade him to swap the Premier League for LaLiga.
Cristiano Ronaldo may have to accept a reduced role at Manchester United to stay at the club beyond this summer, Gary Neville has claimed.
Ronaldo’s Old Trafford career has been the subject of speculation with the forward set to end the season without any silverware in the trophy cabinet and having had a frustrating time amid his club’s struggles on the pitch. And United legend Neville says he rates the forward’s chances of staying at the club as “50-50”.
And Neville believes the Portuguese superstar’s future will rest on one thing.
Tuchel ‘open’ to Man Utd job
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is said to be ‘open’ to discussing the Manchester United managerial position with the club.
United continue to look for their next permanent boss with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag having so far been the frontrunners. But with Chelsea currently plunged into a state of crisis as a result of the sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich, it appears the German may be readying his Stamford Bridge exit strategy.
And reports have now claimed Tuchel could be willing to leave Chelsea for the right offer.
