Roti canai and curry is a popular breakfast dish in Malaysia, but it is also served as a snack or a quick lunch.
Since the price of the main ingredient has increased, roti canai now averages from RM1.20 to RM1.70 apiece.
The price of roti canai is said to be more expensive than usual due to the price of wheat flour which is currently rising.

Wheat flour is now said to be difficult to obtain due to a lack of supply in grocery stores and its price has also increased.
President of the Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association (Presma), Jawahar Ali Taib Khan was quoted by FMT as saying that the price had increased greatly.
He said 25 kilograms (kg) of wheat flour was available for RM45, but now it has gone up to RM65.
If this is not controlled, I worry there will be a slight increase in the price of wheat-based products by 9,000 Presma members.
Presma president Jawahar Ali Taib Khan’s warning on price hikes.
Masa belajar buat roti canai dulu, aku rasa memang patut ni lah harga dia. Leceh woi buat dia, kuah dia lagil barang mahal. Orang nak kuah ada dal, kari dan sambal lak. Makan roti sekeping je. Uli roti tu pulak kebas-kebas tangan. https://t.co/8bKht8cHW2

He said wholesalers may also start hoarding wheat flour to raise prices, but Presma members will try their best to avoid doing so.
Jawahar Ali Taib Khan urged the government to add wheat-producing countries to import commodities as a way out of the problem.
President of the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association (Primas), J Suresh also expressed concern.
He said it is not the buyers who have to pay dearly, but many restaurants will be affected.
Hopefully this problem can be resolved soon. If all the prices of goods go up, we are all afraid to eat out, restaurant traders will also be affected. Hope the government takes wise steps to address this problem.
Primas president J Suresh moaning about the rising prices.
Kawan2 saya yg kerja office tu jangan terkejut pulak makan roti canai, kuih-muih rasa macam mahal. Harga tepung gandum pun nak naik dekat rm1.00 dari 2 tahun lepas.
Barang makin mahal, kita pun nak berjimat dah makan luar. https://t.co/of9INY0dV7
